Do you wait for the weekend the entire week, only to let it go unceremoniously? Does your weekend leave you even more exhausted? Do you get the feeling that your life is simply slipping away, one week at a time? If so, here are some awesome ideas blow some life into your ‘boring’ weekends.

1. Find a new hobby

Begin something new and interesting. Even the regular hobbies that you might be pursuing may turn boring. Break the monotony. Write a poem in free verse. Paint something abstract. Solve a cube blindfolded.

2. Volunteer for a cause

If you feel for a cause, it is time for you to stand for it. While others might think of it as a work outside work, if you are truly passionate about it, you will find it a truly rejuvenating experience. You would find yourself brimming with the feeling of fulfillment.

3. Go somewhere you have never been before

If you are anyone like me, you cannot afford to visit the exotic places displayed in the gif above. But you can definitely visit that old fort outside the city. And guess what, it is going to be much more pleasurable because it will be something completely new and unexpected. You haven’t seen that place in movies, travel books and a thousand wallpapers.

4. Visit an old age home

In our worldly hustle and our everlasting urge to reach somewhere, we easily let go our contact with the older generation. But old people can teach us a lot about how to live a sane life, because — unlike us — they have lived a sane life. Make some time this weekend to tap into this long forgotten source of wisdom by visiting an old age home. Or may be visiting your own parents back at home.

“Parents.” Remember?

5. Play in mud

Researchers have found that being in contact with the soil can be pretty beneficial for our physical and mental balance. Let some mother earth creep into you. Run barefooted, do some gardening, try pottery making or anything else, muddy.

6. Socialize outside your gang

We tend to surround ourselves with the people with we like and who are like us. You like baseball, your pals also like baseball, so it is obvious to infer that the whole world likes baseball. The weekend is a good time to go out and realize that football also exists.

7. Read

Reading a good book is possibly the cheapest adventure you could possibly have. Especially if you had a physically tiring week, it is an awesome way to relax. Pick up a good book and get going. Even if it doesn’t turn out to be that good, it would at least be a lot better than wasting all your time boozing, refreshing your feed and judging people.

8. Meditate

We spend all our life trying to know more and more about how the world is. Take some time to wonder, “How am I?” Burn some candles, put on some guided meditation from YouTube and meditate. You could also visit a near by meditation center, alone or with friends. It will fuel you for the next week and empty the garbage from the last ones.

9. Disconnect

Switch off your gadgets and devices, and cancel all the personal or professional appointments, big or small. Go somewhere on your own, or just sit by the window, watching the setting sun, drinking your coffee. You see, the world is a huge machine and we all are small cogs in it. You could utilize your weekend by plugging out from being a cog and just being yourself.

Happy weekend, whenever it comes!
